Jeff, I owe you a huge apology. When I originally wrote it, I was having trouble seeing how you would post that without noticing the racism (I honestly have a hard time scrolling past it without wincing). But I shouldn't have posted in that angry state when I was assuming that you posted it in that way intentionally, I should have stepped back for a bit, calmed down, and assumed better, especially since I haven't met you.

As further explanation, I had previously spent much time on guild forums of WoW, and one guild forum (the best on our server at the time) in particular devolved into regular racism and misogyny on their random picture thread (and other threads as well). It was painful to see the way that women and minorities were discouraged from posting. The 'willful ignorance' comment was from the way the chuckleheads that posted that crap defended themselves, feigning ignorance that what they were posting was offensive and driving people away. I was assuming that you were being a chucklehead posting that, and I really should not have jumped to that conclusion.

But those are just explanations, and not excuses. There's no excuse for me flying off the handle like that, and I truly, deeply apologize.

It's true, I do have sand or something small and granular in my eye. It's very annoying; I can't even put my contacts in because of how irritated my eyes get. Very unlike my hypothetical vagina. I take very good care of it, and keep it very clean and free of foreign contaminants (most of the time).

Jeff was much closer with "pants". I was thinking "crotch", which is how I think of the term, and how my male and female colleagues would say it when I picked up that phrase back in Germany almost 30 years ago. Getting sand in one's crotch is irritating no matter which gender(s) one happens to be...especially after sleeping in fatigues on sandy soil then road-marching or playing combat for hours or days without access to shower or other normal (civilian) hygiene facilities.
Again, I'm really not surprised that you would assume I was referring to a vagina specifically. I can't be racist because I have a black friend! See how I react to woman-bashing at those misogynist pigs! I shook hands with a gay and didn't even rush to the sink to wash the aids off my hand! I must be a great person!" That crap irritated me when I lived in the racist Deep South, in the sexist Middle East, in homophobic Kansas, and so on. Seems vestiges of it abound even here in Podumk, Iowa.
