Jupiter's moons (among other celestial bodies) are coming into view, and Stephen has graciously opened his house for a stargazing party! smile

Due to the poor weather expected for the 3rd, we will be meeting on the 17th.

We'll have a First Friday-ish food situation, where guests are encouraged to bring food. More details here: http://www.corridor-a...

Man, bummer about the weather and the rash of sickness. Thanks again for hosting this, Stephen, and I hope to meet you at a future event!

From I-80: Go West on I-80 and take exit 216 (Kinze exit). Go South on M avenue. The first stop sign is about 3 miles down the road (3 mile corner), continue South to the second stop sign, which is the Millersburg turn for F52. Continue South, at the bottom of the hill is 288th DR. Go East. When in the neighborhood continue veering left when given the option. We are the second to last house on the right, a tan ranch. 2246 is the house number.

From Williamsburg: Go south out of town toward Parnell on 149. When in Parnell continue on 149 to the West. After 3 miles 149 will come to a T and continue South to North English, here you want to go North. Take your first right onto 288th DR. When in the neighborhood continue veering left when given the option. We are the second to last house on the right, a tan ranch. 2246 is the house number.

Looks like the forecast has changed once again, this time in our favor! BTW do NOT try using online mapping to get to our place. If you do you will end up about 12 miles away. Contact Scott or I and we can guide you. Otherwise if you get really messed up my cell is [masked]

Yeah, had no idea this was here. I second what Danielle said, there is tons of space. So I am a little worried again about the sky, but have no intentions of canceling this time. If it's cloudy we'll drink so much we'll see our own stars.

Joy, I'm not sure Stephen knows that this discussion exists. I thought I'd let everyone know that we have several extra places to sleep, a queen bed, a futon, and a pull out, and a queen size blow up mattress plus all the floor space anyone could desire. We're excited to have everyone over, weather is looking decent, only 30% cloud cover so far!

Dan, the president of ICAC, won't be able to make October 17th. That's the night of the annual Eastern Iowa Star Party out towards the Quad Cities.

You know, Joy, the first time I read your comment, I thought you said, "...I'll just pass out on the home brews..."

Stephen, is there a couch I can crash on? If not, I'll just pass on the home brews...

I got my Galileoscope in the mail the other day. I'll bring it along, it works well for looking at the moon.

It's at Stephen's, I just don't have his address plugged into Meetup yet. Wanted to make sure I had everything set correctly before publishing that...

      The Flying Ouini!
The clouds didn't cooperate for stargazing, but the homebrew and chili were excellent. Stephen and Danielle were very considerate hosts who stayed engaged with good conversation, and Patsy was a playful child-friendly dog.
