It time once again for your favorite political discussion and mine - A-Team Coffee and Politics!
This event is intended to be a smaller, more intimate group setting. While we love having a large crowd for our other meetups, it's just not conducive to the conversation. For that reason, I ask that everyone keep their RSVP up-to-date and to respect the limit.
This meetup will have a political topic that we'll talk about to begin with. We usually let the conversation move in any direction that it wants to and eventually it turns into a chance to just get to know more about each other. These meetups are a great way to get to know us.
Topic:
So I'm gonna get myself in trouble and not chose the oil spill or the NY bombing.
I'm actually going to chose the topic of adoption. I've just been seeing a lot about open adoptions vs closed adoptions, foreign adoptions including ones after the aftermath of the Haitian earthquake, people putting teenagers up for adoption, and people "returning" adopted kids.
So what are your thoughts? Is open or closed better? Should we close off foreign adoptions to prevent shady dealings? Should people be allowed to give a child back to an adoption agency? Should parents be allowed to put their teenagers up for adoption?
As always, everyone is welcome and encouraged to come!
