This my second try at the route I wanted to do last year, but got rained out. I don't have weather info for the weekend of the 26th yet, but I'm going to try for this date and move it around if necessary.
My route starts at the County Home Road trailhead, follows the trail down through Robins/Hiawatha, and goes to Papa Juan's restaurant (which has a bike rack!) There, we'll get some food and refreshments, then head back. Using the nearest roads in Google Maps, it looks like a 5 mile ride each way. This route avoids most of the traffic intersections I hate.
The Country Home Road trailhead is located about midway between Quass Road and Troy Road, and you'll see a small power distribution center across the street from the parking lot. Click on the picture for a better idea of what to look for.
Hope to see a bunch of you there! If you have any questions about the location(s), any suggestions, etc, please contact Rob or myself.

Yeah, about 30 min each way. It's a nice easy ride to start with, and we'll do longer ones later in the season. This isn't just for the Ragbrai/TOMRV/Rockies crowd!
Google maps now has the Cedar Valley Nature Trail in the database, so we can get a direct measurement. It's about 4.5 miles one-way from County Home Rd. to Papa Juan's.

That was a lot of fun. I think I had enough of a base tan that my sunscreen sweating off wasn't a big deal, as I'm fine.
I agree w/ the sunscreen. I am sautéed very much so on the arms
After seeing the aftermath, I'd warn people to re-apply sunscreen on future rides. It looks like I sweated mine off partway.
It was a good time. Inspired me toride the trail through Center Point.
Sweaty! But the company was good.
So, how was the trip today? I'll be joining in the fun next time!

That's a really short distance! :P
Also, I'll be bringing some tools so anyone who needs tires inflated, brakes adjusted, etc. can come early and get them worked on.
