  •  Hi Nate. I'm so sorry I missed you. No one replied so I didn't think anyone was going :( I hope you won't hold it against me.

  •  (continuation) ...Of two Jethro Tull songs I might also mention the following: 'Skating Away on the Thin Ice of the New Day' is THE most beautiful song EVER recorded, and 'Hunting Girl' is the COOLEST, MOST AWESOME, MOST KICK-ASS song of ALL time!!! (Plus, it's nice and perverted.) (End)

    Aqualung (Oct 12, 2009 6:47 AM)
  •  (continuation) ...I was big on Zeppelin in high school and still think they have some great stuff, but I've moved on to better things. IV probably isn't even their best; would have to re-listen... I still worship Queen on occasion, but spend a lot more time worshiping Peter Gabriel, Frank Zappa, and above all JETHRO TULL. Never got around to Blue Oyster Cult, know only the few songs they play on oldies radio, but would be willing give them a serious listen... (continued)

  •  Dear Mr. Mohling, Thanks also for your other 02Oct2009 greeting. You look like my cousin. Only because there are even better Tull albums is 'Aqualung' not the greatest album ever. However, I am a polytheist when it comes to music and spend plenty of time worshiping 'Aqualung' (and it's creators). And you will worship all things Tull as well if you know what's good for you. 'Locomotive Breath' of course great, but the best songs on 'Aqualung' are 'Mother Goose' and 'My God'... (continued)

    Aqualung (Oct 12, 2009 6:23 AM)
  •  (continuation)... I also very highly recommend the album 'Passion' by Peter Gabriel [I think that won a grammy as well -- maybe for best soundtrack (for the film 'The Last Temptation of Christ')], and the song 'Dumb All Over' by Frank Zappa (but you must hear the cool version, the one with the cool vocal part -- I don't remember which album it's on). (End)

    Aqualung (Oct 12, 2009 6:05 AM)
  •  (continuation) ...Then of course there's Ian Anderson's solo album 'Divinities', for which he won a grammy for best classical/crossover album. (He also won a grammy for best hard rock album, Tull's 'Crest of a Knave', so he's won a grammy for best hard rock album AND for best classical album! I can only think of one other musician who's achieved something similar...)... (continued)

  •  (continuation) ...As a fellow A-Team member, on the 'Aqualung' album you may find the songs 'My God', 'Hymn 43', and 'Wind-Up' especially interesting. The musical bridge to 'My God' is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful things I've ever heard, and you'll never guess who sang the Gregorian chant part. You might want to check out another Tull album, 'A Passion Play', as well. Also the song 'When Jesus Came to Play' on Tull's 'Catfish Rising' album... (continued)

  •  Dear Mr. Mohling, Thanks for your 02Oct2009 greeting. They say everyone has a double somewhere in the world. If you've never met yours then you've never met my cousin. Don't think I'll reveal what I know of 'Aqualung' the song/album. Better to challenge you to interpret it for yourself. Listening to the album again (and reading the liner notes) is a great start. You are on the right track... (continued)

  •  Don't let Scott bully you, Nate. I don't like the Moody Blues either.

    JMP (Oct 04, 2009 12:05 AM)
  •  Hmm, I'm not sure about "groundbreaking" -- I think Ray Thomas's work with Moody Blues (while perhaps not as memorable) predates Ian Anderson's with Jethro Tull... :^P

  •  I wanted to know "why" Wally. Because I'm this close to a Wally & the Beaver joke...
