We have been invited by Don "The Fossil Guy" Johnson to the 1st Annual Fossil Fest of Iowa at Washington High School in Cedar Rapids on October 24. Don is the president of the Eastern Iowa Paleontology Project and was the presenter for our event "Dinosaur Predator! Dinosaur Prey!" He did an excellent job and will be repeating that presentation at 10am during the Fossil Fest. If you missed it the first time, or simply enjoyed it a lot, here's your chance to see it for the first time or see it again. His talk will be followed by 4 other presentations that were not given at our event. The keynote talk will be given by Mike Henderson from the Burpee Museum in Rockford, IL and it will be titled "Jurassic Jackpots: Burpee Museum's Dinosaur Discoveries."

The best part - this event is free and there will be door prizes!

More details can be found at www.paleoproject.org.

I may drag the kids down for this if time is open for it. Work has been stupid but I have a 9 year old that has been dragging home damn near every rock that he sees. He'll get a big kick out of this for sure.

Michelle and I would really like to make it to this event but it is the same weekend as the Chucky Cheese event. Not sure if we can attend both! Hopefully the group can try to spread out these family events to one each weekend if possible in the future.

This one actually isn't an official A-Team event. The Eastern Iowa Paleontology Project is putting this on, and as president of EIPP, Don emailed me to let me know that he was extending an invitation to the A-Team. We had absolutely no hand in the planning of it, and we didn't get the invite until after the Chucky Cheese event was scheduled. We want the A-Team to promote science education, and so I felt that this was a worthwhile event to let everyone know about.

I promise that we will do our bests to keep official, family-oriented A-Team events spread out. wink
