I am frankly fed up with ignorance of those outside of the Iowa Film Industry who profess to know what the economic benefits are to Iowans. I have worked in key positions on 7 Iowa films and have seen first hand the economic benefits to the families of the film crew members. We are not teenagers living in our parents basement, we are tax paying adults with children and mortgages. I have also seen thousands of dollars spent in Mom and Pop stores, antique shops, hotels, locally owned restaurants, coffee shops, and hardware stores. Can you imagine what the money means in towns like Lorimor (population 427), Oldebolt (population 1153), & West Branch (population 2270). Even larger cities like Burlington with a population of around 27,000 reaped the benefit of a feature film shot there. Ask anyone at the City Hall and they would tell you that they would love to have more films made in their community. Bottom line, this Tax Incentive program is good for Iowans, ALL Iowans. Please write Chet Culver and ask him to bring back the Iowa Film Tax Incentive Program.

I think everyone agrees with what you are saying- isn't the issue more related to poor or fraudulent accounting in the tax-credit handout process?
