Hey folks,
Theatre Cedar Rapids will soon be putting on a performance of "The Laramie Project", which is a dramatic show based on reactions to the slaying of Matthew Shepard (a gay student) in Laramie, Wy. And like clockwork, the Westboro Baptist Church (the "God Hates Fags" folks) plans to travel here and protest it this Friday. Plans for the counter-protest are underway, and I think it would be cool if some Pastafarians (in full garb) were there to show them some love. I'm thinking fairly innocuous stuff like "eat more spaghetti" and "the FSM loves all of you". There's some stuff we'll need to hash out before we can actually counter-protest anything, but we'll keep you posted.

im planning on it, anyone else? Also, ideas for signs? "If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off." (1 Cor. 11:6) make sure the girls wear hats and everyone has scissors in the hand not holding the sign. Also give out free candy. Wish I was in town. |

I will take my valium, so as to avoid yelling obscenities. Humor is better than meds for that. Think of some really funny sign that will totally torque off the Religio-bigots. Like: God loves me...in the @ss. Right now He's loving Haiti...in the @ss. or I've had sex with Fred Phelps! (A sign to be held by people of all genders and ages. Maybe even photoshop some images for the signs) or Fred Phelps: As straight and honest as Larry Craig! But you can use your own imagination. The thing to remember is that these people are laughable...more to be pitied than censured. |
