I'll admit it, I don't get the Ned Flanders one. Has there been any indication on the show that he's in the closet? I've always seen him portrayed as completely hetero, and Smithers has been the one in the closet (though I haven't watched the show in about 8 years) Though this Simpsons clip seems relevant: http://www.milkandcoo...

I'll admit it, I don't get the Ned Flanders one. Has there been any indication on the show that he's in the closet? I've always seen him portrayed as completely hetero, and Smithers has been the one in the closet (though I haven't watched the show in about 8 years) Though this Simpsons clip seems relevant: http://www.milkandcoo... well, he's a man who says "oh-kelly doke-elly". And he also does not seem interested in women. |

I'm going to disagree with you there. Firstly: I have never heard any one say "oh-kelly doke-elly" outside of Ned, so I don't think it's possible to place sexual orientation on a catchphrase that benign. Secondly and Most Obviously: He's been married twice and has a relationship with a female singer. His difficulty in accepting Maude's death certainly implied that she was much more than a beard to him. It's certainly easy to project someone like Ted Haggard onto Ned, but the show itself has never implied anything like that. |
